| Tina Turner LIVE! |
12/03/2008 |
Today was my Birthday and I was lucky enough to have tickets to see Tina Turner at Nassau Colluseum in Long Island. I have had these tickets since Tina announced her return concert in June. She says this is her very last tour but I hope she still makes appearances. Maybe singing without all the glitz and dancing. Her vioce is still so powerful.
The show opened with Tina on a balcony dancing in place. As she began to sing Steamy Windows, the small square section she was standing on began to decend. It was like she was standing on a plate being balanced on a pole. When she got to the bottom stage, the hurricane that is Tina Turner exploded. The voice, the moves, all still there. Showing off her legs as always.
Seeing Tina in concert is truly and spiritual experience. You could feel her energy all over that hall and I have felt it for days after. Thank goodness I was smart enough to take the next day off, I did not sleep at all that night. I was so full of energy.
She went through all of her hits, dancing to the fast ones and sitting to do a few slow ones. The crowd was right there singing along the whole time. Mostly on our feet dancing as well.
Proud Mary was just as it has been for oh so many years. The same dance steps, the same slow start that leads up to a party! For Nutbush she even came out on the crane and danced up and down the arm. Women in their 20's would be too scared to do that at all, and she did it in heels!
What an amazing woman, what an amazing performer. If she does any more concerts, I will be there for sure. Would love to meet her someday as well. You cannot come away from it without feeling the energy and wondering what more you can do with your life.
